Our Story

Established in 1965, the Lenox guesthouse positioned itself to cater affordable accommodation for every type of traveller. Located in Gardens, a great residential area in Cape Town, The Lenox is conveniently situated centrally and ready to welcome you to your home away from home!

We’re a mere 15-minute walk away from Cape Town’s metropolitan city centre, and only a 10-minute drive to the famous beaches Clifton and Camps Bay (voted in the top 10 beaches of the world to visit!). The V&A Waterfront, Garden Shopping Centre and Table Mountain are just a stone’s throw away!

Choose from our amazing selection of 42 rooms! We offer single, double and family rooms with ample shower and toilet facilities. Feel free to utilise our guest kitchen, dining/breakfast room and TV lounge, as well as our safe overnight parking if you come with a car! The Lenox Guesthouse provides various delicious and healthy breakfast options.

The Lenox is well suited for large groups or teams visiting Cape Town. We have plenty of varied rooms that can accomodate over 100 people. We (2 friends and I) stayed here over New Years and it was perfect - it's within walking distance of Long Street, where many of the bars are & dance clubs are. The staff was very friendly & extremely accommodating. We stayed in a twin bedroom with an extra bed added in for the 3rd person - the bathrooms are common hallway bathrooms but kept relatively clean. The shower is not the greatest but it does well for the price. Very comfortable stay & I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Cape Town!

I stayed at the Lenox for two weeks in January this year. Charlene and Geraldene, who run the guesthouse, made me feel very much at home. The historic building dates back to the 1840s and you'll find an interesting and friendly mix of South African and international boarders. The age set here is older than that of Long Street and as a result the place is quiet and peaceful.

The Lenox is an old german Guesthouse - its old - but charming, a sort of colony style... but it is a fine place and wonderful cheap for long term stay.....very close to everything. You can walk down in the CityCentre in just 10 minutes. Long Street is close, the Company Garden is just few steps away, The Grand Parade (big market) and Station is 15 minutes walk away.

We stayed at The Lenox over new year and it was a pleasant stay. The staff and guests alike were friendly. The room was very basic, but comfortable. We were looking for a safe place to sleep at night and we got that. The place is close to the city, which meant many shops available to us within walking distance. It was really convenient that Long Street was a short walk away.
